As posted on Wiki: Glamour photography is the photographing of a model with the emphasis on the subject. Photographers use a combination of cosmetics, lighting and airbrushing techniques to produce the most physically and sexually appealing image of the model possible.


As opposed to Fashion photography that focuses on the clothing or accessories, Glamour photography emphasizes the beauty of your subject (typically a woman, but I don’t want to hold you back).

Glamour is not just a beautiful woman that you snap away as she contorts on the floor for the camera. It’s not even just the model, but what you put into it, the lighting and camera settings. Yes, lighting and settings are always important in all photography, but it is an even more integral part of the glamour experience. Additionally, make-up, clothing, and hair styling work to show the sensual side of the subject and, dare I say, the sexual side.

No, not literally sexual, but the “tease” of Glamour photography can definitely imply more than it shows. Modern-day Glamour photography has taken a turn to show more skin, but this doesn’t mean “nude=glamour.” Quite the opposite: glamour often will reveal nothing - if you know what I mean. It’s all in the staging of the tease: hands, draped fabric, or other objects covering the unmentionables. Now, I’m not saying that you can’t reveal a breast or two, but if it’s totally nude, then more often than not it will be in artistic nude. I will say that exposing reproductive organs will rarely ever be considered glamour. Think FHM or any modern mens magazine

We can also go back to the days of hollywood glmaour. Where with the times there was less skin showing but still the emphasis on the sensual and sexual. Think George Hurrell or Ruth Harriet Louise

Snapshots of your girlfriend/boyfriend
Most full nudes
Gratuitous crotch shots
Body shots, like close ups of breasts or eyes
Buildings with little itty bitty person on it
Kids

Glamour photographs can blur the line between other galleries. More exactly Art Nudes, Fashion, Pin-Up and even Commercial. So really give your photo some thought before decide its best fit. If it is still moved to another gallery please dont take it personally.


I understand that the Digital Art galleries are not broken down as much as the photography galleries, but that does not make it ok to put images that are manipulated in the photography galleries.

I am not talking about the normal processing and correction techniques that have evolved from the film darkroom. Color correction, curves, levels, heal tool, smooth skin, dodge and burn, tone conversion such as sepia or black and white, even a little nip and tuck with the liquefy tool is acceptable.

When you add textures, change backgrounds, merge with one or more other images (not HDR) you are changing the image from what was originally captured in a drastic way.

border are acceptable if it is a minor addition to frame your image. When it becomes part of the image then you may be crossing the line. Watermarks, your logo, copyright notices are always acceptable
