Since my last journal entry, sorry about that (well like your life stopped short not hearing from me). Ive been lurking here, reading, viewing, submitting a couple deviations. For the most part I have just been slowly getting back into a grove.....which groove I dont know yet

For dedicated followers of The Female Canvas site you have noticed that this year the site was being plagued by hackers. It was getting to the point that the site was been hacked daily and couldn't figure out how. In hindsight maybe it was a good thing....

So last week i basically had everything on the server purged and started over. I must say I really kinda like the look and feel of what I came up with this time. A bit simpler looking and hopefully easier to navigate. There are now 4 galleries to view. The classic black and whites, full color, Tattoo culture (conventions and such) and a new section which will be close up looks at the art itself.

Still doing some tweaks and adding some old data back but take a look, visit often!


Don't know if I mentioned it here before but I had a couple hard drives crash a month or so ago. And like an idiot I didn't follow my own advise and was lazy on the backups. Just got the word back from the disk recovery people and nothing could be saved from it. Im so pissed, there was a lot of work on there...many images that were going into some books I had been working on.

Now I have one buffalo raid1 drive set up for all new stuff to go on. Im going to be getting soon an actual raid1 drive bay set up that will allow me to hot swap drive pairs. So that everything is automatically mirrored. On top of that I burn dvds of the RAWs right after the shoot before the client even leaves and before the cards are re-formatted.....On some shoots Im now even shooting tethered to my laptop.....this keeps a copy on the card, puts a copy on the laptop, then lightroom on my desktop sees them and puts a copy (after renaming and applying meta data and keywords) on the server. This will soon be my shooting set up for all shoots.

So from experience now BACKUP OFTEN!!!

Ya I know I haven't updated the features below (but Im sure you aren't disappointed, they are beautiful) but I will soon, promise!

oh and I know I really hate how dA prints is set up (to take half of your profits) but the capitalist side of me is looking for more revenue streams.......still debating
